The Spy Who Loved Me

It's time for our latest mission with 007 as Bob Chipman joins us again for a globe-trotting mission with The Spy Who Loved Me. Listen as we discuss how the franchise tries to create a more proactive Bond girl in the form of female lead Anya Amasova, make note of Bond's best quips and gadgets for this entry, and question Bond's status as a 'secret' agent. Warning: Contains explicit language, furniture, and strangely anatomical villain furniture.

The Man With The Golden Gun

Bob Chipman joins us again for our latest 'woke brawl' with 007 and this time we're setting our sights on The Man With the Golden Gun from 1974. Listen as we praise the suave menace of Christopher Lee, pine for the lost Alice Cooper theme song we might have had, and encounter that most rare of circumstances: a James Bond film Agatha enjoyed!! Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and intrusive slide whistles.

Live and Let Die

Bob 'Moviebob' Chipman joins us for another outing with James Bond, but this time we all get Moore than we bargained for... Roger Moore, as we take on one of the most offensive films of the 007 series with the blaxploitation-influenced thriller Live and Let Die. Listen as we grapple with the movie's incredibly racist plot and characters, take aim at Moore's portrayal of the venerable super-spy, and ponder why the filmmakers decided an obnoxious redneck sheriff should serve as the film's comic relief. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and lots of poorly-served character actors.

Our license to kill is renewed as Bob Chipman returns to discuss George Lazenby's sole outing as 007, the divisive On Her Majesty's Secret Service. We compare Lazenby's take on James Bond to Sean Connery's, debate whether Telly Savalas is the best Blofeld, and speculate on what audiences thought of the movie's notorious ending. Goldfinger - Supplement

While we try to cover as much as we can in our episodes, there's always more to see, hear, and read about a movie that can enhance your viewing experience. If you enjoyed our episode on Goldfinger, here's a few extra bits you might find interesting...

Episode 60: Goldfinger

In our newest episode, the honeymoon is over as Tim forces Corinne to watch yet another James Bond movie, with MovieBob joining them again to face the toxic masculinity of the popular 007 outing Goldfinger. We discuss the metaphorical and nearly literal emasculation of Bond, compare the greedy title villain to a certain head of state, and suggest that more casting decisions should be contingent on wrestling matches. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and a choice of hats: duck or projectile. Also pleased be advised that we do discuss sexual assault as a theme in the film, something that's almost a given with James Bond by this point.

Movie In-Jokes: Die Another Day

One of the fun games when watching movies is to spot references, secret messages, and gags that filmmakers, film crews, and actors can slip into movies to pay tribute to films they love, have a bit of fun with their previous work, or give the cinematic equivalent of a shout-out. Here's a spotter's guide to these inside jokes.

This time, we revisit secret agent extraordinaire (and Quill's nemesis), James Bond as he discovers the truth about his literary origins in the much-derided 20th entry in the 007 series, Die Another Day.

Dr. No - Supplement

While we try to cover as much as we can in our episodes, there's always more to see, hear, and read about a movie that can enhance your viewing experience. If you enjoyed our episode on Dr. No, here's a few extra bits you might find interesting...

Episode 25: Dr. No

Corinne and Tim face their toughest mission yet as they come up against Dr. No, the original James Bond film from 1962. We'll discuss the film's blatant sexism and racism, its role in establishing the formula for the rest of the Bond film series, and how the exploits of Bond reflect England's role in international affairs in the 1960s. Warning: Contains spoilers, explicit language, and bad Sean Connery impersonations. Also please be advised that in discussing the movie we do reference a sexual assault brought up as a plot point in the film.
