The Spy Who Loved Me

It's time for our latest mission with 007 as Bob Chipman joins us again for a globe-trotting mission with The Spy Who Loved Me. Listen as we discuss how the franchise tries to create a more proactive Bond girl in the form of female lead Anya Amasova, make note of Bond's best quips and gadgets for this entry, and question Bond's status as a 'secret' agent. Warning: Contains explicit language, furniture, and strangely anatomical villain furniture.

The Man With The Golden Gun

Bob Chipman joins us again for our latest 'woke brawl' with 007 and this time we're setting our sights on The Man With the Golden Gun from 1974. Listen as we praise the suave menace of Christopher Lee, pine for the lost Alice Cooper theme song we might have had, and encounter that most rare of circumstances: a James Bond film Agatha enjoyed!! Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and intrusive slide whistles.

Live and Let Die - Supplement

While we try to cover as much as we can in our episodes, there's always more to see, hear, and read about a movie that can enhance your viewing experience. If you enjoyed our episode on Live and Let Die, here's a few extra bits you might find interesting...

Live and Let Die

Bob 'Moviebob' Chipman joins us for another outing with James Bond, but this time we all get Moore than we bargained for... Roger Moore, as we take on one of the most offensive films of the 007 series with the blaxploitation-influenced thriller Live and Let Die. Listen as we grapple with the movie's incredibly racist plot and characters, take aim at Moore's portrayal of the venerable super-spy, and ponder why the filmmakers decided an obnoxious redneck sheriff should serve as the film's comic relief. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and lots of poorly-served character actors.

Diamonds Are Forever

Bob Chipman joins us for our annual outing with secret agent James Bond and this mission may be our most grueling yet as we cut down the cubic zirconia of 007 films, Diamonds Are Forever. Listen as we discuss Sean Connery's perfunctory return to the franchise, measure the mortality rate for women who sleep with James Bond, and contemplate more efficient methods of smuggling diamonds. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and car stunts that defy physics.

Episode 60: Goldfinger

In our newest episode, the honeymoon is over as Tim forces Corinne to watch yet another James Bond movie, with MovieBob joining them again to face the toxic masculinity of the popular 007 outing Goldfinger. We discuss the metaphorical and nearly literal emasculation of Bond, compare the greedy title villain to a certain head of state, and suggest that more casting decisions should be contingent on wrestling matches. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and a choice of hats: duck or projectile. Also pleased be advised that we do discuss sexual assault as a theme in the film, something that's almost a given with James Bond by this point.

We have new orders from M to make contact with special guest Bob Chipman and discuss From Russia With Love, the second James Bond film. We'll talk about the film's reputation as one of the best of the Bond films, examine the movie's place in the evolution of the 007 franchise, and keep track of the series' racism, sexism, homophobia, and articles of clothing that Bond has people fetch for him. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and a totally gratuitous Romani wrestling match.

Episode 40: Star Trek: The Motion Picture

The podcast ventures where it never has before: the Star Trek franchise, as Bob Chipman and Tim spend long periods staring at their viewscreen and watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture from 1979. The resulting discussion touches on the soporific reputation of the movie, the treatment of religion in the Star Trek series, and why you shouldn't replace the chemistry of a good cast with special effects. Warning: Contains explicit language and spoilers but alas... no Corinne (the movie put her to sleep).

Episode 33: Batman

Bob, Corinne, and Tim prowl the dark alleys of Gotham to take on the cultural phenomenon that was Tim Burton's Batman from 1989. We discuss the controversial casting of Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, compare the movie's depiction of the Dark Knight to his other TV and film appearances, and ponder the Batmobile-sized plot holes in its screenplay. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and speculation on the potential crime-fighting career of the Mooseman!

Episode 31: Creepshow

Don't tell the parents! Bob offers a comics history lesson and Tim deals with childhood trauma as they look at George Romero's Creepshow from 1982. Topics discussed include the warped moral code of horror comics, how Romero's social commentary seeps into the film's segments, and just what the hell that thing in the crate is. Warning: Contains explicit language and spoilers, but if you want cake you'll have to bring it yourself.
