This film introduces the iconic and very popular towering thug Jaws. In this interview from the International Spy Museum, actor Richard Kiel discusses his experiences playing the metal-mouthed henchman:

Atlantis, the lair of the film's villain, was inspired in conception if not design by the Aquapolis, a giant structure built on the water for Expo '75 in Okinawa, Japan. Here's a photo of what that structure looked like in reality:

The film also introduced the 007 Stage, a giant soundstage which has housed countless villain's lairs in the series. This featurette shows the dedication of the stage during the shooting of this film:
