Midnight Run - Supplement

While we try to cover as much as we can in our episodes, there's always more to see, hear, and read about a movie that can enhance your viewing experience. If you enjoyed our episode on Midnight Run, here's a few extra bits you might find interesting...

Here are the original theatrical trailers:

Here's a featurette on the making of the film:

As we mentioned, several made-for-television sequels were made featuring Christopher MacDonald as Jack. You can watch two of them below...

Another Midnight Run:

Midnight Runaround:

As we discussed, composer Danny Elfman used the main theme of the film for his song "Try to Believe." While the version with lyrics was not used in the film, it appeared on the soundtrack and in a slightly different version on the Oingo Boingo album The Dark at the End of the Tunnel. Both versions can be found below:

Thanks for listening!

  2. It has to be said: at the end of the Pod, your idea for a sequel where Jack did open up his coffee shop where 30-plus years later, The Duke shows up and they catch up in a corner booth, and the place he opened up is called the MIDNIGHT RUN is not only pure genuis, but a real grace note of poetic perfection. I'm serious. That's the final shot: the camera pulls out to reveal the restaurant's sign and name before fading to black over Elfmans' score leading into the long-overdue song version during the end credits. What a Citizen Kane finish! This has to be! Let this be the hero's call to action in the hero's journey: be that hero, man! Just some motivational speaking from a fellow fan of this enduring cult cinematic classic. Paraphrasing Brad from Troy: Immortality is yours; seize it!
