One famous bit of trivia about the film revolves around how star and producer Sharon Stone insisted on having Leonardo DiCaprio cast as "the Kid," going so far as to pay his salary when the studio wouldn't. In this E News! interview with DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone to promote their film Killers of the Flower Moon, DiCaprio reflects on Stone's gesture and its importance to his career:
